About us

American Rheinmetall Vehicles LLC (ARV), headquartered in Sterling Heights, MI, with a second office in Troy, MI, is a part of Rheinmetall's Vehicle Systems division and not only specializes in the development of combat vehicle platforms that provide next-generation products to the U.S. Department of Defense and Federal and State Law Enforcement agencies, but also brings the global group’s portfolio of vehicle systems to the U.S. market.

American Rheinmetall Vehicles offers both tracked and wheeled combat vehicle platforms with associated sub-systems and works in conjunction with customer program offices to ensure its products meet specification and performance requirements for programs of interest. Among other efforts, American Rheinmetall Vehicles is actively engaged in supporting the U.S. Army in two particularly high priority modernization programs, the XM30 Combat Vehicle program where the Lynx XM30 just advanced to phase 3 and 4, and the Common Tactical Truck (CTT) program where the HX3 CTT advanced to phase 2 of the program in early 2023.

Lynx XM30

Lynx XM30 Combat Vehicle

American Rheinmetall Vehicles is designing a new combat vehicle using Rheinmetall’s Lynx KF41 as the point of departure for their concept, which supports the U.S. Army’s modernization efforts being pursued through the XM30 Combat Vehicle program – formerly designated as the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) program. In order to accommodate the rapid growth associated with their offering, ARV has expanded their Michigan based operations and continues to build their team. Driven by strong and consistent growth, this early investment initiative demonstrates Rheinmetall’s commitment to the XM30 program and the U.S. Army.

Exclusively Lynx XM30 for the U.S. Army’s next-gen combat vehicle program

The Lynx XM30 features a U.S. designed, unmanned 50mm turret, an advanced technology Two-Soldier Crew approach, a highly mobile and powerful chassis, integrated vehicle protection systems, and a modular, open systems architecture ensuring overmatch today and overmatch tomorrow.

Rheinmetall’s Lynx KF41 has been used as the point of departure for various customer specific IFV designs.

Evolution of the Lynx

Rheinmetall’s Lynx next-generation combat vehicle has come a long way in less than five years' time. Starting from the drawing board, both KF31 and KF41 types were brought to life and travelled the world going through extensive trials along the way. Now, Hungary has become the launch customer ordering 218 vehicles after having signed a joint venture agreement with Rheinmetall. A strong signal to those eying the most advanced IFV to date.

Delivering for the U.S. Army’s Highest Modernization Priorities

The fielding of a next-generation combat vehicle is a top priority for the U.S. Army. Maintaining overmatch and a competitive advantage against emerging threats is crucial. The Army’s XM30 program must deliver an ICV with overwhelming close combat capabilities that’s capable of operating in manned and unmanned modes. HX3 CTT

The HX family of tactical trucks

Rheinmetall is a global leader in tactical military truck development and manufacturing with its HX family of trucks, which have been sold to 20 customers globally, including an active Allied user group consisting of Germany, Australia, United Kingdom, Austria, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Rheinmetall recently unveiled its HX3, the next-generation series of trucks with advances in power, mobility, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), an open systems architecture with pathways to hybrid technology incorporation, and leader follower driving and autonomous operations.
The militarized HX3 series incorporates substantial commercial technologies reflecting Rheinmetall’s joint venture with MAN Truck & Bus which streamlines logistics and sustainment burdens and provides benefits in vehicle upgrades.

The HX3 series

Well-protected and agile the HX3 is capable of becoming a close supporter of the operational edge. Whether it is detecting, identifying or tracking opposing forces, being deployed as a node on the battlefield or as a combat platform – the HX will stand its ground.

HX3 Common Tactical Truck (HX3 CTT)

American Rheinmetall Vehicles and GM Defense offered the U.S. Army the HX3 CTT, a derivative of the HX3, and won a contract to deliver Prototype Proposals for the first phase of the Army’s Common Tactical Truck (CTT) program. The program enables the Army to replace legacy vehicles like the Palletized Load System (PLS), Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT), M915 Line Haul Tractor, and other platforms in the current heavy and medium tactical wheeled fleet. A truck with maximum commercial elements, able to perform military missions, and that can bring commonality amongst mission roles are top priorities for the Army in this program.
